Telematics technician: providers, information, important questions and answers

Telematics deals with the installation of telecommunications and network technology. Telematics technicians are familiar with the possible uses of communication systems such as telephones, cell phones, the Internet and IT systems. They plan and install telematics systems and configure networks and end devices. As digitalization progresses, they are also responsible for other building automation tasks in addition to communication, such as controlling lighting, heating and ventilation.

There are initial and further training courses in telematics at every vocational training level - with different designations:

• as basic vocational training since 2020 under the name of EFZ building IT technician (previously EFZ telematics technician)
• In the area of continuing professional development, we offer telematics project managers with a federal diploma (BP), certified system technicians (HF), certified telematics technicians (HFP) and others.

The training courses cover practical and theoretical aspects of telematics. The demands on prospective building IT and telematics technicians in the area of personal fitness are high, as they also have to lay pipes, ducts and cables.

They should also fulfill the following academic requirements:

- Completed compulsory schooling

- above-average performance in mathematics, geometry and algebra

- Very good knowledge of German

- Knowledge of English desirable
