Benjamin Del Monego, logistics specialist with a federal certificate, prospective federally certified supply chain manager at GS1 in Winterthur
After completing his apprenticeship at Glaser Handels AG in Winterthur (now RUAG Ammotec Schweiz AG) as an EFZ logistics technician and his military service, Benjamin Del Monego was offered a job at uniQservice, an ICT service provider in Bassersdorf. He worked in this position for less than a year and a half before he was offered a promotion to Logistics Team Leader and Logistics Manager. Del Monego was to acquire the necessary know-how in an in-service training course. And so he did. He enrolled for further training as a logistics specialist with a federal certificate and successfully passed the professional examination in fall 2015.
Del Monego already benefited considerably from the content of the further education course during this training, particularly from the "Process Management", "Project Management" and "Supply Chain Management" modules. The knowledge imparted on the course and the federally recognized qualification helped him significantly on his career path, as he would not be able to do his current job without it. He would lack the qualifications to manage his six employees and one apprentice, to manage the company's entire logistics, to develop new processes and more efficient workflows, to define and evaluate KPIs, to initiate any corrective measures and to manage projects. And he probably wouldn't do the job of kit manager, who is responsible for the best possible allocation of materials to the field service technicians and the 13 warehouses.
But Benjamin Del Monego does not see himself at the end of his career goals, quite the opposite. He has big plans. And as a further step on his career path, he is preparing for the higher professional examination to become a federally certified supply chain manager, which he expects to complete in 2019. It remains to be seen what will follow. However, Del Monego sees a job change to a larger company with good promotion prospects that can benefit from his newly acquired knowledge and skills as a logical next step and an opportunity for further development.
