The town of Rorschach is located in eastern Switzerland at the southernmost point of Lake Constance. The pretty harbor town lies roughly opposite the mouth of the River Argen and to the north at the other end of Lake Constance lies the German town of Friedrichshafen. The small town lies 400 meters above sea level. Rorschach was granted market rights as early as 947 and developed into an important trading center - especially for grain traders. The granary and the many richly decorated bay windows on the main street date back to this time. The "Badhütte", dating from 1924, still stands on concrete pillars in the water. The three-winged bathing establishment is the only remaining building of its kind on the Swiss shores of Lake Constance and is still in operation.
