How did the edupool degrees come about? What is the vision behind it?

Edupool is a quality label of the commercial association and has developed into the most important Swiss examination organization in non-formal commercial further education. Edupool was founded in 2001 with the aim of creating a new level in the Swiss education system and thus closing the (then still existing) gap between basic vocational training (EFZ) and higher vocational training (professional examination (BP)).

It was the case that people with a Federal Certificate of Competence (EFZ) were unable to gain a foothold in a specialized job because they lacked the specialized knowledge and professional experience in the field they wanted to work in.

The edupool clerk courses, as a kind of intermediate stage between basic vocational training (apprenticeship) and higher vocational training, offer a remedy here. This is because they enable people who are interested in a federal certificate, for example, but do not yet have any qualified specialist knowledge or professional experience, to at least get a head start in specialized jobs.

The key players behind this vision/concept are edupool, i.e. the commercial association and the accredited partner schools (currently more than 40 commercial schools (as of January 2023)). In addition, there is close cooperation with well-known industry and professional associations, which also co-sign the edupool certificates and diplomas. This close cooperation and the signature of the industry and professional associations guarantees a high level of practical relevance of the courses as well as topicality of the content and underlines the credibility and quality of the edupool qualifications.

Well-known associations include: veb.ch, EXPERTsuisse, H+-Bildung and SWISSMEM.
