Surgical assistant: training, further education, information, overview of offers and schools

The demanding profession of surgical technician (HF) (surgical assistant) consists of two main areas. On the one hand, she organizes and plans operations, checks medical equipment, fetches the patient from the hospital room, positions the patient for the operation, helps with disinfection and sterile draping of the operating area and hands the surgeons the required instruments during the operation; on the other hand, she helps the doctors and nursing staff with the care of emergency patients. To ensure that everything runs smoothly, a surgical assistant is familiar with all surgical procedures so that she has the right instruments ready and can position patients correctly at any time during an operation without being asked. At the end of the operation, she drives the patient to the recovery room under medical supervision. She is also responsible for hygiene and sterility in the operating theater as well as preparation and final checks.
