As a qualified energy and environmental engineer HF (formerly qualified technician HF energy and environmental engineering), you promote renewable forms of energy - as plants or systems with high energy efficiency, as sustainable processes and in the interests of environmental protection. Their work focuses on the development, construction and implementation of renewable energy sources and energy-efficient renovations. The planning and commissioning of energy-efficient plants and systems for harnessing energy sources such as water, sunlight, wind, geothermal energy and biomass is becoming increasingly important, making energy and environmental engineers sought-after professionals. The degree course in Energy and Environmental Technology HF is aimed at people with an EFZ in the mechanical, electrical and metal industry, in the electrical installation trade or in construction and building technology or a high school diploma and at least one year of professional experience in the desired field. In addition to an interest in the subject, you should also have teamwork and communication skills, leadership qualities and a systematic and solution-oriented way of thinking for the three-year part-time course.

After two years of professional experience, students can apply for the European-recognized title of "EurEta engineer". As specialists in demanding energy and environmental issues, energy and environmental engineers HF perform the following tasks:

  • Analysis, development, planning, consulting and purchasing/sales as well as the implementation, commissioning and operation of technical systems
  • Develop concepts for energy generation, energy production, energy storage, energy conversion and energy distribution

You can become an energy and environmental technician in three years with a part-time energy and environmental technology HF course. This usually requires an EFZ vocational qualification in a technical field. However, there are also exceptions "sur dossier".
