How long does the further training to become a "Real Estate Trustee (HFP)" take and how much does it cost?

Duration and procedure

  • The preparatory courses to become a real estate trustee are designed to be taken part-time
  • They have a modular structure and usually last 2-3 semesters.
  • The courses comprise around 400-420 lessons.
  • The lessons usually take place two evenings a week. There are also courses on one afternoon plus one evening per week.
  • The Higher Professional Examination takes place annually, provided that a minimum number of candidates meet the admission requirements, otherwise every two years. The HFP can be taken in one of the three official languages German, French or Italian.

Costs

  • The fees for the preparation course amount to CHF 14,00-15,500.
  • If you are a member of the Swiss Real Estate Association (SVIT), you will benefit from reduced course fees.
  • The examination fee is set by the responsible examination secretariat, the Swiss Examination Board SFPKIW. It currently amounts to CHF 3,200 (as of 2022).
  • Many providers charge additional costs for training documents, teaching materials, exam preparation or revision. We recommend that you enquire directly with the provider of your choice to find out what additional costs you can expect.
  • Since 2018, graduates of preparatory courses for the federal professional examination (BP) and higher professional examination (HFP) have been able to apply for a refund of up to half of the course costs paid, regardless of the result. More information is availablehere.
