A Swiss certified public accountant has the following responsibilities:

• Employment of senior management
• major responsibility for the correctness of the statements on compliance with statutory regulations and accounting standards
• Reporting to company management and/or authorities in accordance with the law and the order
• Correct handling of sensitive data
• If self-employed: Responsibility for own company

The tasks for auditor jobs are as follows:

• Valuation and expert opinions of companies
• Interpretation and evaluation of internal and external analyses
• Process audits to assess the internal control of the companies
• Samples, tests and inspections
• External confirmations
• Plausibility studies
• Audit of the annual financial statements of companies
• Assessment and evaluation of future opportunities and risks and their potential impact on the future valuation of the company and key asset items
• Preparation of reports, e.g. to the company management or authorities
• contribute as an independent audit body to building confidence and thus to the functioning of the markets
• External advice on company valuations, potential takeovers or reorganizations, internal audits or tax issues

The following competencies can be achieved with the Certified Public Accountant training course:

• Competencies in top management and management
• Personnel management skills
• Competencies in the context of managing your own office

Um zur Höheren Fachprüfung (HFP) diplomierter Wirtschaftsprüfer / diplomierte Wirtschaftsprüferin zugelassen zu werden, sind mindestens sieben Jahre Berufspraxis im kaufmännischen Bereich vorzuweisen, davon mindestens drei Jahre in qualifizierter Tätigkeit, in denen Sie innerhalb von mind. Vier Hauptprüfungs-Perioden in Ihrem engeren Tätigkeits-Feld mitzuwirken haben. Höchstens eine Hauptprüfungs-Periode kann dabei pro Kalenderjahr angerechnet werden. Zur Höheren Fachprüfung (HFP) dipl. Wirtschaftsprüfer/in wird zugelassen, wer über einen eidg. Fachausweis Treuhänder/in, Fachmann / Fachfrau Finanz- und Rechnungswesen, Informatiker/in oder Bankkaufmann / Bankkauffrau verfügt, oder einen schweizerischen Hochschulabschluss,  Fachhochschulabschluss oder Höheren Fachschule Abschluss vorweisen kann, oder ein eidg. Diplom als Steuerexperte / Steuerexpertin, Treuhandexperte / Treuhandexpertin, Experte / Expertin Rechnungslegung und Controlling, Informatiker/in, Bankfachmann / Bankfachfrau oder einen gleichwertigen Abschluss verfügt. Zudem dürfen Teilnehmer keinen Eintrag ins Zentralstrafregister besitzen, Praxiserfahrung mit mindestens sieben Jahren im kaufmännischen Bereich, drei davon in qualifizierter Tätigkeit nachweisen können sowie alle Modulprüfungen bestanden haben.

• Postgraduate studies at universities of applied sciences in related fields, e.g. Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Financial Consulting, in Fiduciary and Management Consulting, in Economic Crime Investigation, Executive MBA Controlling and Consulting

Die Weiterbildung zum/zur dipl. Wirtschaftsprüfer/in ist berufsbegleitend auf vier Jahre ausgelegt und setzt die Vorkenntnismodule „Statistik“, „Volkswirtschaftslehre“, „Quantitative Methoden“ sowie „Tax & Legal“ voraus. Die Grundausbildung besteht aus drei Modulen: Audit, Tax & Legal sowie Accounting & Finance (Corporate Finance, Management & Financial Accounting / Financial Reporting). Auf der Diplomprüfungsstufe im Modul Professional Judgement (PJ) werden Sie auf die eidg. Diplomprüfung vorbereitet.
