What does a web designer do? What does their professional activity look like?

The number of websites on the Internet is growing every day - and web designers are among those behind them: They develop websites - with so-called responsive web design, so that the new design automatically looks good on different end devices (desktop and mobile) and all screen sizes. Usability, i.e. user-friendliness for the visitor, is at the heart of their work. They also take search engine optimization and the user experience into account.

In their design proposals, web designers incorporate the company's corporate design and thus continue the uniform imagery, color scheme, font and language style of the company on its website. In doing so, they always keep the technical structure of the programming language and feasibility in content management systems in mind.

Web designers often work in creative teams at graphics companies or advertising and communications agencies. There they work closely with various people: Project managers, who are in direct contact with clients; computer scientists, who convert the designs into programming code and web publishers, who are responsible for publishing the pages.
