Is this concern so important to you that you even want to work for it in your everyday professional life and are considering whether you should study at a university to become an environmental engineer? If you have a school-leaving certificate or vocational baccalaureate, then there are no more obstacles in your way and you can pursue your goal without any detours.

Take the plunge and work towards an environmentally friendly world. Try to promote respect for nature, people and the environment. In order for life to continue to function as it does today, the careful use and conservation of natural but unfortunately scarce resources is of great importance. By studying to become an environmental engineer, you will learn the science of nature and how to deal with it effectively. The degree course is varied and divided into different directions. You can choose between the following specializations: Environmental Education; Horticulture, Renewable Resources and Renewable Energies, Nature Management and Urban Horticulture.

Questions and answers

Ein eidg. Fähigkeitszeugnis EFZ mit Berufsmaturität muss für den Bachelorstudiengang zum Umweltingenieur FH nicht zwangsläufig in einem technischen Bereich absolviert werden. Auch in einem biologischen oder chemischen Beruf kann eine prüfungsfreie Zulassung erfolgen. Mit einem EFZ in einem anderen Bereich mit Berufsmaturität ist ein mindestens einjähriges Praktikum im Umwelt-Bereich nachzuweisen, ebenso wie bei einer gymnasialen Maturität oder Fachmaturität.

Nicht nur an einer Fachhochschule haben Sie die Möglichkeit, sich zum Umweltingenieur ausbilden zu lassen, auch an Eidgenössisch Technischen Hochschulen (ETHs) können Sie Umweltingenieurwissenschaften mit Bachelorabschluss studieren.

Es besteht die Möglichkeit, dass Sie an der ZHAW das Bachelorstudium zum Umweltingenieur in Vollzeit sowie in Teilzeit studieren. Bei einem Teilzeitstudium studieren Sie an festgelegten Wochentagen, so dass Sie sehr gut weiterhin arbeiten können.

Im Bachelorstudium zum Umweltingenieur mit Bachelorabschluss wählen Sie eine Vertiefung in einem von fünf Schwerpunkten: Naturmanagement; Erneuerbare Energien und Ökotechnologie; Landwirtschaft und Hortikultur; Urbane Ökosysteme; Umweltsysteme und Nachhaltige Entwicklung. Hinzu kommt bei Interesse ein Minor, etwa in Artenkenntnis, Felddiagnostik und Analytik, Ökobilanzierung und Labelmanagement und andere.

Bis zum Studienabschluss Umweltingenieur/in BA benötigen Sie in der Regelstudienzeit im Vollzeitstudium sechs Semester, im Teilzeitstudium acht bis zwölf Semester, je nach Intensität des Studiums.
