Duration and procedure

  • The courses at the PET colleges for tourism specialists are designed both as part-time and full-time courses. Both variants are offered with or without an integrated internship.
  • The courses have a modular structure and usually last 4-6 semesters.
  • The courses comprise 5,400 learning hours. In addition to attendance time, the learning hours also include time for independent learning, group and individual work and learning assessments.
  • Semester examinations must be taken during the HF degree course to qualify as a Tourism Specialist HF.
  • A diploma thesis must be written to complete the HF program. The design of the requirements is the responsibility of the schools and can therefore vary.

Costs

  • The course fees amount to CHF 12,000-18,000.
  • The examination fee or costs for the diploma thesis are usually included in the course fees.
  • Some providers charge additional costs for course materials, teaching materials, exam repetitions or expenses for semesters abroad or excursions. We recommend that you enquire directly with the provider of your choice to find out what additional costs you can expect.
  • At some HF schools, it is possible to acquire additional qualifications such as language diplomas. The costs are between CHF 150-500.
