Orthoptist training - Find solutions for eye problems

Are you interested in medical issues? Do you enjoy dealing with people and would you like to work for their well-being? If you are also interested in our organ of sight, the eye, we recommend that you train at a higher technical college in the field of orthoptics. As an orthoptist, you deal with eye problems or eye disorders of all kinds on a daily basis and look for applicable and useful solutions for patients.

The orthoptist profession is practiced in close cooperation with ophthalmologists. On the instructions of ophthalmologists, you will examine patients' eyes and deal with eye disorders such as strabismus or eye muscle disorders. You make diagnoses and know how to explain them to your patients in an understandable way. This requires empathy and a high level of social skills. As an orthoptist, you will independently implement the therapeutic measures necessary for eye health and help many people regain normal visual function.

The prerequisite for training at a higher technical college to become an orthoptist is three years of federally recognized vocational training and a general education qualification (BMS/DMS). Look around now for suitable training courses. The Swiss education portal provides you with them.
