Medical Team Leader: management position in medical practice

The course for prospective medical team leaders SVMB enables graduates to work in a middle management position in medical practices, clinics, organizations, insurance companies or health insurance funds in the future and to supplement their clinical-medical know-how with management and business management knowledge. At insurance companies and health insurance funds, they work in case management as group leaders, while in medical practices they are entrusted with personnel management, human resources, quality assurance, income management and practice marketing.

A degree in a medical profession, such as a nursing specialist, pharmaceutical assistant, medical practice assistant MPA, dental assistant DA, veterinary practice assistant TPA, medical assistant DVSA or similar, or a higher degree in the medical field and at least two years of relevant professional experience after basic vocational training, are the best prerequisites for starting the "Medical Team Leader" course with a certificate from the Swiss Association of Medical Vocational Schools (SVMB). This course teaches you the modules "Personnel Management", "Accounting", "Quality Management in the Medical Practice" and "Practice Management", which are the admission requirements for the federal professional examination (BP) "Medical Practice Coordinator with federal certificate". The modules Chronic Care Management I and II, which you can also take at the relevant schools, are also required for admission to the BP.

The specialist training course lasts two semesters and is completed alongside your job, so that you can continue to work, possibly with a reduced workload. Different course models are available to you depending on the school. For the Medical Team Leader SVMB course, for example, you attend classes two evenings, one afternoon or one Saturday per week and complete two module examinations per semester. If you pass four module examinations, you are deemed to have passed the diploma examination and new opportunities open up for you as a team leader in a medical practice.

Questions and answers

Die Diplomprüfung „Medizinischer Teamleiter SVMB / Medizinische Teamleiterin SVMB“ besteht nicht, wie sonst oftmals üblich, aus einer Abschlussprüfung, sondern wird dann als bestanden angesehen, wenn Sie alle vier obligatorischen Modulabschlüsse erworben haben. Diese erhalten Sie nach jeden Modul mit einer entsprechenden Modulprüfung, die schriftlich abgelegt wird und je nach Fach zwischen 60 und 120 Minuten dauert. Alle vier Module (Personalführung, Praxismanagement, Rechnungswesen und Qualitätsmanagement in der Arztpraxis) werden mit gleichem Gewicht benotet und ergeben im Mittelwert die Diplomnote.

Je nach Bildungsanbieter variieren die Starttermine der Weiterbildung „Medizinischer Teamleiter SVMB / Medizinische Teamleiterin SVMB“. So können Sie bei einigen Schulen mit jedem Modul beginnen und haben auf diese Weise vier Starttermine pro Jahr. Bei anderen Schulen ist der Beginn lediglich zweimal im Jahr möglich.

Zugelassen zu den Modulprüfungen des Lehrgangs „Medizinischer Teamleiter / medizinische Teamleiterin SVMB“ wird, wer über ein eidgenössisches Fähigkeitszeugnis folgender Berufe verfügt: Medizinische Praxisassistent/in MPA, Drogist/in, Tiermedizinische/r Praxisassistent/in TPA, Pharma-Assistent/in, Fachfrau / Fachmann Gesundheit FaGe, Dentalassistent/in DA, Arztgehilfe / Arztgehilfin Diplom DVSA oder Fachmann / Fachfrau Betreuung FaBe. Zugelassen werden auch Personen mit einem Abschluss auf Tertärstufe für die Berufe: Prophylaxeassistent/in, Biomedizinische/ Analytiker/in HF, Fachfrau / Fachmann für Operationstechnik HF, Fachfrau / Fachmann für medizinisch technische Radiologie HF, Rettungssanitäter/in HF, Drogist/in HF, Pflegefachfrau / Pflegefachmann HF, Dentalhygieniker/in HF, Pflegefachmann / Pflegefachfrau Operationspflege HF. Vorausgesetzt wird zudem für alle Berufe eine mindestens zweijährige berufliche Tätigkeit in einer Arztpraxis oder einer med.. Organisation zu 100 Prozent oder eine entsprechend hochgerechnet längere Berufspraxis bei geringerem Arbeitspensum nach Abschluss der Grundbildung.

Es ist nicht möglich, die Prüfungen für die Ausbildung „Medizinischer Teamleiter SVMB / Medizinische Teamleiterin SVMB“ in einer anderen Sprache abzulegen, als in Deutsch. Prüfungs-Gebiet ist die ganze deutschsprachige Schweiz und Prüfungssprache ist ausschliesslich Deutsch (Reglement Art. 12. 2).

Nach Beendigung des Lehrgangs und Bestehen aller vier Modulprüfungen wird Ihnen das SVMB-Diplom (Schweizerische Verband Medizinischer Berufsschulen) „Medizinische Teamleiterin SVMB“ respektive „Medizinischer Teamleiter SVMB“ verliehen.
