My name is Raphaela Büsser. I come from Oberbüren and am 27 years old. I completed an apprenticeship as an MPA with BMS in a general practice. I currently work full-time as a medical practice assistant (MPA) and medical practice coordinator (MPK). This is because I act as a bridge and coordinator in a group practice. At the Migros Club School, I also teach patient contact and communication to the MPAs at the vocational medical school.
I trained as a medical practice coordinator with a federal certificate in order to take on a practice management role. I wanted to progress and develop further so that I could take on new tasks in the practice and have more variety in my day-to-day work. I also always wanted to be able to teach at a vocational school myself, which requires a higher vocational qualification.
I knew the Migros Club School from an English course. I had also enquired on the Internet about the form in which this rather newer course, Medical Practice Coordinator, was offered at the Club School. The offer convinced me. The Club School has accredited all modules and they are also subsidized by the federal government.
I benefit greatly from the Medical Practice Coordinator training in my professional work. It also gave me a new position in the team and in the administrative area, which I really enjoy. It has broadened my know-how for everyday practice work and the rest of my life.
I liked a lot of things about the medical practice coordinator course. Firstly, the very motivated, competent and friendly teaching staff. I also had a very good exchange with people from different age groups. The training courses offered by Migros Club School in the form of evening or Saturday schools were ideal for me, as they allowed me to work full-time on the side.
I have also experienced stumbling blocks during my medical practice coordinator training. These are partly the exams, for which I had to prepare myself seriously through targeted learning. As I completed the modules individually, I had enough time for work and my private life. People who attended several modules in combination certainly lacked this time.
My market value has certainly increased as a result of the Medical Practice Coordinator training. The additional know-how is popular with doctors and they positively recognize the impact of the knowledge on the practice. I have also experienced salary-related benefits as a result.
My further training as a medical practice coordinator has enabled me to develop personally. In my opinion, however, this has to do with all the training and life experience. Also with the practical application in everyday practice or private life.
I think I was able to get something good and useful out of every module of the Medical Practice Coordinator with a federal certificate. What I particularly liked was quality management. I realized that this is often not yet implemented so consistently in everyday practice. Although this is strict, it is also very exciting to integrate into everyday practice. I also found the Chronic Care module in the Medical Practice Coordinator course. This is about looking at the patient from a different perspective. As a self-determining patient, you make a joint goal agreement, as this increases the motivation to achieve the goal.
Thanks to my training as a medical practice coordinator with a practice management focus, I was able to improve my career. I have a new position in the team with a coordination and group function. As we are a group practice with two MPA teams, I coordinate between the various doctors and MPA teams. This task is very interesting and varied.
There are two possible directions for medical practice coordinator training: practice management or clinical direction. I completed the former. The latter is more about administration, team management and processes behind the scenes. In the clinical direction, it is particularly about patient contact, clinical pictures and consultation hours, everything to be able to respond better to the patients. The aim of both directions is to relieve the practice or clinic by taking on specific tasks.
After graduating as a medical practice coordinator with a practice management direction, I would seek a discussion with the doctor to see how the knowledge acquired can be used profitably in the practice. For example, by taking on additional administrative tasks or a management role. More skills can also lead to a higher salary. When graduating as a medical practice coordinator with a clinical focus, it is important to check whether you can introduce a chronic care consultation. By organizing and conducting such consultation hours, you also increase your skills and can therefore demand a higher salary.
Without the qualification as a medical practice coordinator with a federal certificate, I would have come to a standstill as an MPA. It would not have been possible to change positions, as it is very rare to be able to climb the career ladder without further training. If you have further training in the bag, you have a recognized proof of your skills that you can show. In addition to the know-how that you can bring to everyday practice and teamwork, you also increase your market value.
My aim is to complete an SVEB training course to become an adult trainer for my work as a lecturer at the medical vocational school of the Club School for MPAs. This will certainly happen in the near future.
What I liked best about the Medical Practice Coordinator course was the exchange of experiences through group work or discussions with teachers and course participants. It was very interesting for me and many contacts have remained. We still exchange ideas and pass things on today.
I would recommend the Medical Practice Coordinator course to anyone who would like to expand their know-how in a practice management or clinical direction. Also MPAs who already have a managerial role or who run chronic care consultations. It helps to improve your knowledge and to be able to do your job even better. In addition, you have the appropriate title and can also develop further in terms of salary.
The atmosphere at the Migros Club School was good during the Medical Practice Coordinator course. The advantage for me was also that everything is under one roof - you can eat here in the Migros restaurant. Concerns and questions are dealt with quickly and straightforwardly in the office. You also get help or appropriate documents sent to you. Each module can be completed at the club school and these are approved and subsidized by the federal government.
I have certainly grown personally during my training as a medical practice coordinator. I had to learn to learn again. I am now well prepared and ready for further training. You grow with every step you take. I was able to change my position and can now teach MPAs.
