OST is the newest university of applied sciences in Switzerland, but already has over 170 years of experience. This is no contradiction, as OST is the merger of three renowned universities in Eastern Switzerland: FHS St.Gallen, HSR Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil and NTB Interstaatliche Hochschule für Technik Buchs.

Almost 4000 Bachelor's and Master's students study at the St.Gallen, Rapperswil and Buchs campuses. They study in the Departments of Architecture, Construction, Landscape, Space, Health, Computer Science, Social Work, Engineering and Business in over 20 Bachelor's and Master's degree programs.
