Children's education: training, studies, schools and offers at a glance

An exciting and forward-looking course of study has recently been launched at higher technical college level in the field of child education. The course is open to those with the relevant previous education as well as career changers and offers an interesting professional future in the field of family and school-based childcare. The Child Education degree program can be completed in two different training courses:

• The "long HF" for lateral entrants lasts four years and requires a completed secondary level 2 (vocational apprenticeship, secondary school or similar).
• The "follow-up HF" for graduates with previous vocational training (e.g. care specialist) takes two to three years full-time or three to four years part-time

Both degree programs require participants to be employed in a childcare facility for at least 50 percent of the time during their studies in child education HF, where they complete the practical part of their training. The main tasks of child educators HF include the care, education and upbringing of children. They support each child individually and according to their stage of development. This requires a high level of perceptiveness, empathy, patience and enjoyment of working with children. During their work, child educators come into contact with parents, families, schools and other supporting institutions. During the course, participants acquire the leadership and specialist skills to carry out all tasks competently and professionally.
