Anna completed a four-year apprenticeship as a computer scientist (EFZ) at a large Swiss bank in Glarus. Anna had been working in platform development at this bank since completing her apprenticeship. However, she missed the interaction with customers and wanted to take on more responsibility, which is why she took the professional examination to become a business IT specialist with a federal certificate at the age of 26. From then on, she acted as a bridge-builder between customers and the ICT department. She developed, supported and analyzed smaller IT projects as part of a team. Thanks to her federal certificate, Anna was earning CHF 7041 per month after 4 years of working at lower management level.

But Anna wanted more, especially strategic tasks. She could also see herself managing a larger team or an entire department, so she decided to take the Advanced Federal Diploma in ICT Management - a solid qualification for the leap into senior management. After attending the preparatory course, Anna successfully passed the higher professional examination three semesters later, at the age of 33.

Three years after graduating, Anna was able to take on a role as deputy manager and gain experience in a more complex project. Two years later, further extensive projects were added, which meant that she had more and more employees under her. The higher professional examination and her promotion to senior management meant that she now earns CHF 11,506 per month, which since her work with a federal diploma is equivalent to aWage increase of just under 64corresponds.
