How long does the "ICT Manager (HFP)" course take and how much does it cost?

Duration and procedure

  • The preparatory courses for ICT managers can be completed while working.
  • They have a modular structure and usually last 2-4 semesters.
  • The courses comprise between 320 and 448 lessons.
  • Lessons usually take place on 1-2 evenings per week, one evening plus half a Saturday or all day on Saturday.
  • The Higher Professional Examination takes place annually, provided a sufficient number of candidates meet the admission requirements, otherwise every two years. The HFP can be taken in one of the three official languages German, French or Italian.

Costs

  • The costs for the preparation course amount to approx. CHF 11,940-15,900.
  • The examination fee is set by the sponsoring body, the Swiss ICT Vocational Training Association. It currently amounts to CHF 3,400.
  • Many providers of preparatory courses for the Higher Professional Examination for ICT Managers charge additional costs for enrolment, training documents, teaching materials or simulation exams, etc. Find out directly from the provider of your choice what additional costs you can expect.
  • Since 2018, graduates of the federal professional examination (BP) and higher professional examination (HFP) have been able to apply for a refund of up to half of the course costs paid, regardless of the result.More information can be found here.
