Hand therapy - rehabilitation of the upper extremity

In order to help people with health problems, a wide variety of therapies have been tested, developed and successfully applied. Extremities in particular need to be rehabilitated after treatment so that normal movements can be carried out. The CAS Hand Therapy, which can be completed at universities, enables graduates to specialize in providing competent post-treatment of the arms and hands. However, as basic skills and competencies in the therapeutic field, namely occupational therapy and physiotherapy, are required for this activity, this continuing education course is primarily aimed at trained occupational therapists and physiotherapists FH or BSc.

Participants in the further education course acquire practice-oriented, specialized hand therapy knowledge. As the course is modular in structure, graduates can put the new models and theory they have learned into practice straight away. In terms of content, you will deepen your knowledge in the following areas, among others:

  • Methods and means of returning patients to their everyday lives
  • Influence of the latest therapeutic and hand surgery findings on treatment
  • Ensuring an optimal treatment outcome in cooperation with therapists, relatives, doctors, insurers and employers
  • Utilization of patient resources for the best possible treatment outcome

Are you an occupational therapy or physiotherapy professional and interested in specializing in hand therapy? Would you like to complete a CAS, which takes around 450 hours on a part-time basis, around 280 of which are self-study? Visit the Swiss education portal, where you will find offers from first-class higher education providers who will be happy to provide you with further information.
