With a CAS in Phytobenthos you will become a specialist in the field of aquatic plants, algae and lichens

Certain environmental conditions, such as the quality of the air, can be identified and analyzed using lichens. As the symbiosis between algae and fungi can be disturbed very quickly, lichens are therefore considered good bioindicators. Bioindication is an extremely important topic, also in the area of watercourses and small standing bodies of water. A Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Phytobenthos - Aquatic Plants and Algae has been developed in order to familiarize students with this area of knowledge in depth. This course deals with the aquatic soil vegetation and adjacent areas covered by lichens, mosses, algae, diatoms and macrophytes.

Are you interested in a certificate course in phytobenthos and would like to learn more about the underwater flora and the recognized methods of bioindication? Would you like to gain in-depth insights into the biological status and assessment of still waters, such as lakeshores and ponds, as well as watercourses? This CAS will enable you to apply, interpret and professionally present bioindication methods.

Your knowledge of lichens, algae and macrophytes will be tested in a final thesis which, if passed, will award you the Certificate of Advanced Studies. To be admitted to the course, you must have a university degree and in-depth knowledge of aquatic fundamentals. However, comparable training with professional experience is often sufficient for admission to the in-service training in the form of a certificate course. You can find out more about this directly from the relevant universities.

Questions and answers
