Healthcare specialist: training at the pulse of life

The healthcare specialist training can be completed directly after secondary school A or B and is particularly suitable for people who love dealing with other people, have good manners, respect, patience, organizational skills and a pronounced physical and mental resilience and stamina. A healthcare specialist (FaGe) deals with medical and health issues on a day-to-day basis, focusing on the holistic care, support and nursing of sick people. This requires a strong willingness to help and empathy. The daily work also demands a great sense of responsibility.

As a healthcare professional, you care for and look after sick people. However, healthcare professionals also carry out administrative and housekeeping tasks in their day-to-day work, giving them an enriching change of pace. During your training as a healthcare specialist EFZ, you will receive holistic training and acquire the ability to deal with sick people correctly in every situation. As a qualified healthcare specialist EFZ, you will work in hospitals, Spitex, nursing homes or clinics, for example.

Training leading to a Federal Certificate of Competence (EFZ) takes three years and is carried out in a social or healthcare institution. Schooling takes place 1 to 2 days a week at a vocational college. The following subjects are usually taught:

Welche Weiterbildung ist für eine Fachfrau Gesundheit EFZ möglich?

Für Fachfrauen Gesundheit gibt es eine ganze Reihe an attraktiven Weiterbildungsangeboten mit Kursangeboten von Institutionen und Berufsverbänden des Sozial- und Gesundheitswesens, sowie Fachschulen. Welche Tätigkeiten übt eine Fachfrau Gesundheit EFZ aus?

Fachfrauen Gesundheit sind in den unterschiedlichsten Institutionen des Sozial- und Gesundheitswesens beschäftigt, etwa in Altersheimen, psychiatrischen Kliniken, Behindertenheimen, bei der Spitex oder in Rehabilitations-Zentren. Sie sind überall dort vorzufinden, wo hilfsbedürftige Menschen betreut und gepflegt werden müssen, die ihren Alltag aus unterschiedlichsten Gründen nicht mehr alleine bewältigen können. Dabei sind Fachfrauen Gesundheit für die tägliche Körperreinigung der Patienten ebenso zuständig, wie für die Essensausgabe oder -verabreichung. Sie kümmern sich aktiv um die Freizeitgestaltung mit basteln, spazieren gehen oder vorlesen.

Je nach Anstellung sind Fachfrauen Gesundheit auch für die Erledigung des Haushalts zuständig, etwa kleinere Koch-, Putz- oder Waschtätigkeiten. Auch befassen sie sich mit der Medizinaltechnik. Sie geben unter Anweisung von Fachleuten Medikamente aus, verabreichen Spritzen, messen Blutdruck, wechseln Verbände und entnehmen Blut.

Während Ihrer Ausbildung zur Fachfrau Gesundheit lernen Sie in einem Heim, einer Klinik, einem Spital oder einer anderen Einrichtung des Sozial- und Gesundheitswesens alle wichtigen beruflichen Grundlagen praktisch kennen und anzuwenden.
