Helping people with bad eating habits as a nutritional therapist

Would you like to establish yourself in the field of nutritional counselling and complete a recognized and well-founded training course on the subject? Then training with a diploma as a nutritional therapist is certainly an exciting and worthwhile option, especially as the certificate meets the requirements of the EMR and, with the appropriate registration, results in health insurance approval. The course is completed on a part-time basis and concludes with a diploma thesis. Graduates benefit from comprehensive medical expertise during their subsequent professional activities in nutritional counseling and can provide therapeutic and advisory support to healthy and sick people with regard to their nutrition. They know about the most important dietary measures for the various clinical pictures and also advise their clients on food supplements and vital substance therapy. Trained nutritional therapists can also perform body fat measurements and give professional lectures on nutrition-related topics with flying colors.

After successfully completing the course, participants are qualified to open and run their own nutritional counseling practice.

Questions and answers

Für eine Ausbildung zum Ernährungstherapeuten ist es in der Regel nicht notwendig, dass Sie über einen Lehrabschluss verfügen, jedoch sollten Sie bedenken, dass eine Ausbildung zum Ernährungsberater nicht eidgenössisch anerkannt ist (mit Ausnahme des Bachelorstudiums Ernährung und Diätetik) und daher keine adäquate Ausbildung zum Lehrabschluss darstellt. Fragen Sie im Einzelfall jedoch bitte direkt bei den Schulen nach, ob eine berufliche Grundbildung für die Ausbildung erwartet wird.

Der Umfang der Ausbildung als Ernährungstherapeut kann ja nach Abschluss und Schule stark variieren, so dass keine allgemeine Aussage diesbezüglich getroffen werden kann. Für eine EMR Anerkennung der Methode Nr. 68 sind mindestens 150 Stunden Fachausbildung notwendig, sowie 600 Stunden Schulmedizinische Grundlagen, sofern Sie diese nicht bereits mit einer anderen Ausbildung im Bereich der Komplementärmedizin / Komplementärtherapie absolviert haben. Selbstverständlich können Sie auch Schulungen besuchen, die weniger als die vom EMR geforderten 150 Stunden für die Krankenkassenanerkennung aufweisen und ausschliesslich an einem oder mehreren Wochenenden ein Seminar über Ernährung besuchen. Für eine Tätigkeit als Ernährungsberater ist eine solche Fortbildung jedoch nicht geeignet. Innerhalb von drei Jahren können Sie beispielsweise auch ein Bachelorstudium in der Ernährungsberatung absolvieren und sich auf diese Weise umfassend an einer Hochschule zum Ernährungstherapeuten / Ernährungsberater ausbilden lassen.

Da die Berufsbezeichnungen Ernährungscoach, Ernährungsberater und Ernährungstherapeut keine geschützten Begriffe sind, können diese für unterschiedlichste Ausbildungen und Weiterbildungen in der Ernährungsberatung verwendet werden. Alle drei Begriffe können dieselbe berufliche Tätigkeit beschreiben, so dass es für Sie als Bildungsinteressent wichtig ist, sich direkt bei den jeweiligen Schulen für alle drei Ausbildungsabschlüsse umfangreich über die einzelnen Lehrgänge zu informieren. Nahezu alle Ausbildungen zum Ernährungstherapeut sind berufsbegleitend möglich, bei vielen können Sie auch weiterhin in Vollzeit arbeiten. Bei einigen Diplomlehrgängen ist es jedoch erforderlich, dass Sie Ihre Berufstätigkeit reduzieren, etwa auf 60 Prozent bei einer Ausbildung mit 2000 Stunden Ausbildungszeit innerhalb einer Zeitspanne von zwei Jahren. Wann eine Reduzierung des Arbeitspensums erforderlich ist, erfragen Sie bitte individuell direkt bei den Schulen für Ernährungstherapie.
