Tipps und Entscheidungshilfen für die Ausbildungswahl

Are you a software engineer or a manager in IT or an IT-related field or are you a Chief Information Officer (CIO) in a company and are you looking for suitable further training to help you better understand and optimize the use of enterprise architecture? Is your goal to take on responsibility in the future and make a significant contribution to the success of strategic projects in your company relating to corporate planning, e.g. in the area of digital transformation, a company merger, restructuring and change processes or new innovations in technology?

Then the CAS Enterprise Architecture (FH) course - EA for short - is perfect for you. During the continuing education program, you will be enabled to successfully solve a wide range of challenges in the corporate environment. Enterprise architects design and conceive the structure and processes in organizations with the aim of determining how corporate goals can be achieved effectively. The process includes analyzing, planning and designing, and finally implementing in the company. Enterprise architecture management supports organizations in particular with digital transformation. In so-called EA frameworks - i.e. enterprise architecture structures - EA managers create a draft of all of a company's processes and structures based on their analyses. This draft serves as a map that contains all business processes and IT resources. The various IT landscapes are harmonized, combined and thus consolidated. The aim of EA is to build a bridge between business and IT and to introduce helpful standards so that resources are optimally deployed and utilized.

The CAS Enterprise Architecture (FH) consists of four modules and lasts approx. 1 semester on a part-time basis. Admission is open to people with a tertiary-level qualification (HF, FH, Uni, ETH) and two years of relevant professional experience in IT and/or business. Admission sur dossier is possible in consultation with the university of applied sciences depending on professional experience.

Questions and answers

A CAS in Enterprise Architecture Management IT usually lasts one semester and is completed with a Certificate of Advanced Studies from the university. This corresponds to at least 10 ECTS (credit points). However, please contact the individual universities for detailed information.

The core competencies of enterprise architecture specialists in the field of IT are the management support of business and IT as well as the linking of operations with corporate strategy. The most important skills of enterprise architects are systemic and networked thinking, target group-oriented communication and a constant overview of the big picture.

Enterprise architecture analyzes and implements business strategies to optimize the company's processes and IT application systems. Enterprise architects have a comprehensive overview of all applications and processes as well as the information flows between the teams.

You are admitted to further training as an enterprise architect, such as the CAS Enterprise Architecture IT FH, if you have completed a tertiary-level education (HF, FH, Uni, ETH) in computer science (programming / software development) or business (e.g. business analysis) and have two years of professional experience - preferably in a management position.
