DELF exam: prove your knowledge of French with an internationally recognized diploma

TheDELF diplomas certify French language skills at all levelsand are acquired through examinations. The diploma examinations take place under the supervision of the French Ministry of Education. The diplomas are internationally recognized and are suitable for job applications and any other situation in which you want or need to prove your French language skills on paper.

DELF stands for Diplôme d'Études en langue française. The DELF language diplomas confirm language skills in French at different levels: from A1 and A2 for beginners with basic knowledge to B1 and B2 for advanced learners with competent and already flexible use of the language. The DELF diplomas are followed by two higher DALF diplomas (Diplôme approfondi de langue française, C1 and C2), which certify high to almost native speaker competencies in French.

The levels of the DELF diplomas correspond to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This sets the standard for the acquisition of language certificates and aims to make European language training and language certificates comparable.

At theDELF examoral and written expression skills as well as listening and reading comprehension are tested. The exams are held twice a year. You can find numerous language schools and courses in Switzerland to prepare for the DELF exams.

French courses in preparation for the DELF diplomasare available in various teaching formats: in a group in the classroom, online, hybrid or blended learning, as private lessons at school, at work or at home, DELF courses for companies, small groups, etc.

The preparation courses for the DELF exam are aimed at pupils, students and adults of all ages who want to refresh or improve their knowledge of French and prove it with an internationally recognized language diploma. A DELF diploma can increase your attractiveness on the job market. Often the diplomas are also an admission criterion for degree courses in French-speaking countries or are required by the authorities as a condition for residence and settlement permits.

Questions and answers

Die französische Sprachprüfung zur Erlangung des Diplôme d`Etudes en Langue Française (DELF), ist in vier Teilbereiche gegliedert, die je nach Niveaustufe unterschiedliche Inhalte und Dauer aufweisen. In allen vier Teilbereichen können bis zu 25 Punkte erreicht werden, was eine Gesamtpunktzahl von maximal 100 Punkten ergibt. Um die Prüfung zu bestehen, müssen mindestens 50 Punkte erreicht werden, wobei in keinem Bereich weniger als 5 Punkte erzielt werden dürfen. Die DELF-Prüfungen gliedern sich in folgende Schwerpunkte:
  • Hörverständnis
  • Leseverständnis
  • Schreiben
  • Sprechen
Sie können an 900 verschiedenen Standorten auf der ganzen Welt die DELF-Prüfung ablegen und beliebig oft wiederholen, sollten Sie diese nicht bestehen. Dennoch entstehen immer Kosten und ein gewisser zeitlicher Aufwand, so dass es ratsam ist, sich bereits frühzeitig intensiv auf diesen Sprachtest vorzubereiten. Sprachschulen bieten Ihnen speziell entwickelte Diplomkurse an, die Sie umfangreich genau in den Bereichen schulen, die für ein Bestehen der Prüfungen wichtig sind. Diese Diplomkurse haben einen festgelegten Zeitrahmen und werden von Sprachschulen in der Schweiz ebenso angeboten, wie auch von Schulen in Frankreich oder einem anderen französischsprechenden Land. Auf diese Weise können Sie auch im Rahmen einer Sprachreise nach Guadeloupe, Kanada, Monaco oder Tahiti für die DELF-Prüfung lernen.

Das Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF) kann in sechs Leistungsstufen erworben werden und bescheinigt Ihnen damit den Stand Ihrer Sprachkenntnisse. Die Stufen A1 und A2 bestätigen, dass Sie über Basiswissen in Französisch verfügen, die Stufen B1 und B2, dass Sie gute Sprachkenntnisse besitzen, die es Ihnen ermöglichen, sich schriftlich wie mündlich gut auszudrücken. Die Sprachdiplome C1 und C2 zeigen auf, dass Sie sehr gute Sprachkenntnisse auf einem hohen Niveau aufweisen und in nahezu jeder Situation fliessend kommunizieren können.

Das DELF, das Diplôme d`Etudes en Langue Française, ist eine Sprachprüfung des Französischen Ministeriums für Bildung und ausschliesslich für Nicht-Muttersprachler entwickelt. Dieses Sprachdiplom ist auch international anerkannt und bescheinigen Ihnen Ihre fremdsprachlichen Kompetenzen. Vor allem für ein Studium an Hochschulen oder eine Anstellung im französischsprachigen Raum ist ein DELF oftmals unabdingbar. Das Diplome kann in vier, vom Gemeinsamen Europäischen Referenzrahmen festgelegten Niveaustufen erworben werden, auf Stufe A1, A2, B1 sowie B2.
